A popular supermarket is due to open a new store this week, marking its 1000th branch in the UK. The milestone launch highlights the chain’s impressive growth over the past three decades, bringing more budget-friendly shopping options to communities across the country.
Shoppers in East Grinstead can expect a new Lidl store to open in the area on November 27. This expansion is part of the supermarket’s ongoing plan to strengthen its presence nationwide. Each new store is expected to bring fresh jobs and services to local communities.
In celebration, fans can snap up one of the 1,000 limited-edition Lidl Gingerbread Stores and enter for a chance to win £100 toward their Christmas shop by visiting the Lidl Bread store at 10am on Thursday, November 27.
Joanna Gomer, Marketing Director at Lidl GB, commented: “Reaching our 1,000th UK store is a huge milestone for Lidl, and we want to celebrate in a way that everyone across the country can enjoy.
“Our Gingerbread houses have been a customer favourite, so we mixed things up a bit by creating a special kit that not only showcases our new East Grinstead store, but also captures the fun and festive spirit of the season.”
Earlier this year, Lidl unveiled its plans to open hundreds more new stores across the UK. The company is targeting a variety of locations, including town centres, retail parks, and standalone sites.
Lidl’s standard store requirements include unit sizes between 18,000 and 26,500 sq ft, a minimum of 100 dedicated car parking spaces, and plots of 1.5 acres for standalone stores or up to four acres for mixed-use developments.
