When you think ‘cocktail’ you probably think of sipping an icy mojito on a beach in Greece — at least that’s what I think of. And when you think ‘Christmas’ you might conjure up thoughts of cosy mugs of mulled wine by the fire.
However, if like me, you think mulled wine on the whole is vile, you might want a drink with a bit more of a kick to it.
That’s where this gorgeous winter cocktail comes in. It was developed by Havana Club Rum and I think it makes the perfect alternative to a mulled wine — albeit a lot stronger.
It’s called a Cuban Winter and it’s made with dark rum, cinnamon syrup, pineapple and apple juice with a little fresh apple garnish to keep things healthy.
It’s sweet, spicy and warming with enough rum in it to make you forget your festive stresses. Turkey came out dry? No worries, have a Cuban Winter. Grandma and Dad are fighting again? Cuban Winter time.
Everyone wants to go on a walk and you’d rather stay home — uh oh, you’ve had too many Cuban Winters and need a lie down.
