Sausages come out of the air fryer tastier if you follow three simple steps. Sausages are just one of the foods that can be cooked easily in the air fryer. This method has proven popular for many Brits in recent years as it requires little effort and only a bit of cleaning up afterwards. However, like any method for cooking sausages, it’s important that you do it right. There are three easy steps you should follow every time you put sausages in the air fryer.
It’s important to note that sausages are different from other air fryer foods. There are many ingredients packed into the casing, and this can cause issues if they are not cooked properly. One expert has shared her three steps for making the best air fryer sausages, including one important action to take before placing the sausages inside this handy cooking device.
Christine of Cook The Story shared her go-to steps for cooking the best air fryer sausages, and she starts by pricking them. Some experts advise against piercing sausages when cooking them, but others see it as an essential step when cooking them in the air fryer.
This is because the heated grease and fat inside the sausages can explode. Piercing stops that from happening, meaning you’ll have fully intact sausages when they are done cooking.
“I also poke them to let some fat drain out,” she added. “It still adds flavour as it cooks, but the end result is less greasy.
“For me, poking avoids a messy air fryer and gives me a leaner bite. But if you don’t want to poke them, don’t.”
Here are the three steps she says you should follow every time you cook your sausages in the air fryer:
Poke your sausages in three places.Arrange them in the air fryer basket so they do not overlap.Cook them at 200C until they are browned and cooked all the way through. This should take between 12 and 15 minutes.
Plenty of people tried Christine’s method and shared their thoughts in her comments section. One person wrote: “Worked great! So much cleaner than doing sausages on the stove!”
Another said: “My first time doing sausages in the air fryer, they turned out awesome! I poked 2 and left one un-poked and they all turned out juicy.”
