10 ‘strong and meaningful’ baby names that will be everywhere in 2026

If you’re expecting a baby in 2026, choosing a name is one of the most exciting things to prepare for. Many new parents look for names that are different and will let their child stand out from the crowd.

Moving into the new year, BabyCentre has revealed some of the names that will be rising through the charts for new babies. These names are often inspired by pop culture, from K-pop queens to cowboy culture, thanks to shows like Yellowstone and music like Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter. They’ve compiled a list of names that are seeing a boost in popularity — so while they may not be top of the charts now, they’re likely to rise through the ranks quickly.

For girls, pop-star-inspired names are gaining popularity. Names like Dua, meaning ‘answered prayer’ and inspired by superstar Dua Lipa, are a new entry on the charts, reaching number 80 in popularity.

Olivia is another name that has been a classic for years, but thanks to pop star Olivia Rodrigo, it is seeing a new boost. Lily is another classic experiencing a resurgence thanks to Lily Allen’s comeback in 2025.

Lara is another name seeing a boost, perhaps thanks to Lara Raj from K-pop inspired pop group Katseye.

BabyCentre’s Baby Naming Expert, SJ Strum, said: “Parents are picking names that celebrate strong, expressive female voices. These names feel bold, artistic and full of personality! Much like the women inspiring them.”

Girl names that invoke light are also popular. Ayla, meaning ‘halo of light’, and Nora are creeping onto the charts. Zahra, from the Arabic zahara meaning ‘shine’, is popular as is Nur, which means ‘illumination’.

For boys, cowboy cool and romantic names are sneaking into the charts. Caleb, Austin, Luke and Jesse are all popular, invoking thoughts of the wild west and a forgotten era of cowboys.

Lyrical and romantic boy names are gaining popularity, too. These old-world, longer names give a certain sense of authority. Names like Alexander, Nathaniel and Gabriel are popular, as is Adriel and Ibrahaim — a more spiritual take on the romantic name.
