Tesco has shared some noteworthy information that may just influence your gifting this festive season, as one item came out on top. The supermarket has something available for the Baileys lovers in your life this Christmas.
According to last year’s Tesco’s Christmas Trends Report, the tasty tipple was a top choice for host gifts of the festive period and ranked high as second for the most popular gift for friends and family. This season makes it the perfect time to stock up on Baileys, a holiday staple that also lends itself beautifully to seasonal recipes such as Festive Eton Mess or an Irish Cream Chocolate Yule Log. To make it even easier, right now, Tesco is offering 1L bottles of Baileys at one of the lowest prices on the market.
From now right up until Christmas Eve, Clubcard holders can bag a litre bottle for a mere £14, marking a saving of £8.50. Tesco’s Christmas delivery slots are also now open, and to receive the offer delivered right to your door, you can order it up until December 24, too.
In fact, deals span across a lot of drinks within the popular Bailey’s range, including the fan-favourite Bailey’s Terry’s Chocolate Orange, costing just £11 with a Tesco ClubCard, as opposed to its usual price of £17. Along with it, customers can grab themselves a Baileys Original Irish Cream Liqueur bottle also for £11, saving an impressive £6 on one bottle alone.
While Baileys is a festive favourite across many households, those doing the big Christmas clean-up may find themselves making an easily avoidable and rather costly mistake.
After the big day, people tend to dispose of unwanted drinks by pouring them down the sink, but tradesmen at MyBuilder.com have strongly advised making an exception when it comes to Baileys and other cream-based liqueurs. According to the experts, these drinks down your sink can lead to serious blockages, and instead, you should follow the rules for disposing of cooking fats.
“Cream liqueur drinks, such as the popular Christmas favourite, Baileys, can be a problem for your plumbing at Christmas. While it may be delicious to drink, it doesn’t keep for long and often ends up down the sink,” a spokesperson at MyBuilder previously shared.
They further explained: “This sort of beverage should never be disposed of in this way. Cream liqueurs have a large fat content and as such fall into the category of FOG (Fats, Oils, and Greases). FOG should never go down the sink, as it sticks to pipes and can cause blockages. It’s also responsible for ‘fatbergs’ in our sewers.”
So when it comes to gifting this Christmas, it seems you can’t go wrong with a Baileys, as Tesco states it’s “the most popular Irish cream liqueur around the globe”. Many chose to indulge in its distinct velvety texture, to add it to their ice cream carefully drizzled over, or even to add it to their Christmas coffee.
