It’s officially Christmas week, which means it’s time to get your last minute shopping done before the big day. Whether you’re picking up your pre-ordered turkey or rummaging through for last minute supplies, all of the major supermarkets will be on hand to provide you with everything you will need for Christmas Day.
Supermarkets have confirmed their opening hours for Christmas Eve, with many closing earlier than normal trading hours. Below you will find a list of every supermarket open on Christmas Eve in the UK. Here is what you need to know about your local supermarket.
Aldi
On Christmas Eve, stores will close at the earlier time of 6pm. However, if you’re heading to Aldi before then, shops will be open from 7am until 10pm on Monday, December 22 and Tuesday, December 23.
Asda
Asda confirmed that the majority of its stores will be open from 5am to 7pm on Christmas Eve. It is advised to search individual store opening times by using its Store Locator for individual branches.
Asda also confirmed that all of its petrol stations have a pay-at-the-pump service, so they will be open throughout the Christmas period for customers to fill up.
Tesco
Tesco Extra stores and Superstores will close at 7pm, with some variations on the Isle of Man. Express stores will all be closed by 10pm, and some may close at 7pm.

Morrisons
Opening hours may vary by branch on Christmas Eve, but the majority of shops will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. It’s recommended that customers use Morissons’ store finder to check their local stores’ hours.
Lidl
A spokesperson for Lidl has confirmed that stores will be open on Christmas Eve, with hours varying from shop to shop. Lidl urged customers to check their local store’s opening hours on the online store finder or through the Lidl Plus app.
Sainsbury’s
Supermarkets will be open from 6am to 7pm on Christmas Eve and convenience stores from 6am to 9pm. The vast majority of Sainsbury’s supermarkets and convenience stores will be open from 6am to 11pm from December 18 to 23, as well.
Petrol filling stations will open 30 minutes before and close 30 minutes after the main store, except on Christmas Eve when they will open an hour later.
Waitrose
A spokesperson from Waitrose confirmed that stores will close early on Christmas Eve. The supermarket urged customers to check your local branch for specific opening hours.
M&S
According to Good Housekeeping UK, M&S stores will be open from 6am to 6pm on Christmas Eve, but it’s always best to double-check your closest store for local differences.
