Silicone in the bathroom is designed to provide a waterproof seal between surfaces, but over time, mould can thrive on it. This is because mould loves a warm and damp environment, which is exactly what the bathroom provides. It can also be visible kitchens.
Posting on the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, Emma Rowley, said: “HG mould spray is honestly the best thing I’ve ever used, the only product you need for mould. Just spray and leave everything. The mould just disappears.
“No need to scrub, I wipe or rinse the area afterwards and make sure the room is well-ventilated, and it’s very strong.”
The comments came flooding in from fellow group members, also raving about the product.
Paula Little commented: “I pick HG mould spray every time. I watch the mould just melt away.”
Stephanie Curtis said: “HG mould spray is amazing, I urge anyone to give it a try.”
HG Mould Remover can be purchased from many retailers, including B&Q, Wickes, Amazon and some supermarkets.
It’s a strong bleach-based cleaner that quickly removes black mould, mildew, and algae from surfaces like silicone, tiles and even outdoor furniture. It gets to work in as little as 30 minutes and doesn’t require any scrubbing.
Grout is also an area of the bathroom which can quickly discolour, turning yellow or black over time.
According to the experts at Checkatrade, staining can make it difficult to restore grout to its best condition, but it is possible to “brighten” it with a few easy steps.
The experts said: “Fill your sink with warm water and grab your stiff-bristled brush, wet it and rub the grout in a circular motion.
“Alternatively, fill your spray bottle with warm water, spray and brush in the same way.
“Prepare a mix of equal parts warm water and vinegar in your spray bottle. Spray it onto the grout and let it sit for several minutes.
“Then scrub with your stiff-bristled brush and rinse with warm water. If your grout is still dirty, create a baking soda paste with warm water and apply it to the grout lines.
“Spray on your vinegar solution and allow it to foam. Scrub with your stiff-bristled brush and rinse with warm water.”
Baking soda and white vinegar can help lift stains from grout through a reaction that releases carbon dioxide.
It can also be used to brighten silicone sealant mould, but it may not solve the problem on its own.
