If you’re anything like me, January is when the urge for a big refresh kicks in — and that usually starts at home. So Dunelm’s up to 50% off January sale has landed at exactly the right moment. Cold weather has me firmly in nesting mode, and while a good tidy and organise always helps, sometimes it’s nice to treat yourself to a few new home bits.

As a shopping editor (and a big fan of cosy, homey vibes), I’m constantly scrolling through the latest ranges from brands like Marks and Spencer and Habitat. But when it comes to affordable homeware, especially accessories, Dunelm is a real go-to. It often nails current trends and has pieces that can look far more expensive than they actually are. Plus, with such a wide mix of styles, there’s something to suit almost every kind of home.

Right now, the sale includes everything from rugs and  bedding to furniture and lamps, although discounts do vary depending on what you’re shopping for.

You can browse Dunelm’s entire sale here. Or keep scrolling for some of my top picks from the collection.

Beatrice Storage Bench – now under £190

Beatrice storage bench

The Beatrice storage bench is a handy spot to store shoes and outside accessories (Image: Dunelm)

January is a great time to get organised, and the hallway is a good place to start. Rather than letting shoes and boots pile up in a corner, a storage unit can instantly make the space feel calmer and more put-together. I personally have shelves at home, but I really like the Beatrice Storage Bench.

It comes with three storage compartments hidden behind soft-close doors, complete with adjustable shelves for shoes and other outdoor accessories. It also doubles as a handy seat for tying your laces — or somewhere to drop bags and parcels when you come through the door. Originally retailing for £229, the bench is now £183.20, saving you £48.50.

I particularly like that it comes in four colour options: black, pink, green or cream. Each bench is topped with a striped, soft, padded cushion, so you’re not plonking yourself down on a hard surface.

The main body is made of MDF rather than solid wood, but shoppers have praised its quality. In a review, one shopper said: “Really lovely, better than I thought it would be. Real quality.”

Measuring 50cm x 115cm x 37.5cm, it’s a great size for a wider hallway, though some shoppers have also used it as a window seat. One reviewer said: “This window seat is a very solid, heavy and well-made piece of furniture.”

It does arrive flat-packed, so some assembly is required. As one shopper put it: “As an older person, it took me on my own a couple of hours to put together, but the instructions were very easy to follow.”

Catherine Lansfield Stripe 100% Brushed Cotton Bedding – from £16

One of the quickest ways I like to refresh my bedroom is by switching up the bedding. If your room is fairly neutral, it’s also an easy way to introduce some colour without committing to anything permanent, and Dunelm has loads of bedding sets included in the sale right now.

This striped 100% brushed cotton set from the Catherine Lansfield collection caught my eye as it adds colour in a subtle, grown-up way. Stripes have been having a moment in interiors over the past year, with “stripe drenching” (a maximalist trend where stripes are layered across an entire room) being particularly popular. Whether you want to lean into the trend or just dip a toe in, this set is a great place to start.

It comes in six colours, so there’s plenty of choice. I’m especially drawn to the baby blue, but there’s also blush pink for warmth, a bold navy, an earthy green, plus two neutral options: beige and grey. It’s also reversible, with a wider stripe on one side and a narrower stripe on the other.

A double set was originally £32, but is now £25.60 in the sale. Single sets are £16 (down from £20), king-size sets are £28.80 (down from £36), and super king-size sets are £42 (down from £33.60).

The bedding is rated 4.7 stars by shoppers. One customer said: “New Year, New Bedding. Took advantage of some sale prices to renew our bedding.”

Another added: “Looks more expensive than it was, so I am impressed with the quality.”

The set is machine washable, although Dunelm advises line drying. That said, one shopper mentioned their bedding had “bobbled and faded” after being washed “a couple of times”.

Apartment Arched Full Length Leaner Mirror – now just £84

Dunelm curved mirror

This Dunelm mirror is discounted to £84 (Image: Dunelm)

A full-length mirror is an essential in my home, and I love the arched shape of this one paired with its gold frame — it makes it look far more expensive than it actually is. At £84, it’s a really strong price compared with similar designs elsewhere. Dusk, for example, has a similar mirror that is still available for £115 in the sale (down from £135). If gold isn’t your thing, the Dunelm mirror also comes in a more versatile black frame.

Measuring 75cm x 145cm x 2cm, it’s wide enough to make a statement. And, as it’s a leaner mirror, you can simply rest it against the wall without drilling, and at 20kg should be sturdy. For extra peace of mind, it also comes with an anti-tip kit to help keep it in place. If you’d rather hang it, there are hooks on the back for that purpose.

Shoppers say it’s easy to put up. One reviewer wrote: “Lovely big mirror! Easy to hang. Lots of compliments.”

Another said: “A sturdy, strong mirror which adds character and light to my apartment! Quite heavy too.”

However, one shopper did mention that the gold frame arrived with “marks on it”.

Beatrice Woven Stripe Snuggle Chair – Save £119.70

Beatrice stripe chair

I’ve had my eye on the Beatrice Stripe Snuggle Chair since it first landed on Dunelm’s website back in September 2024, so I was very happy to see the blush pink version discounted by almost £120. Pink isn’t for everyone, but the pale tone paired with the cream stripe makes it easier to work into a room without feeling overpowering — and it’s a lovely way to brighten up a space.

It’s still one of the pricier items in the sale at £279.30 (down from £399), but it’s the best price I’ve seen it at so far. The chair also comes in an earthy green (my personal favourite), although that’s only reduced by £79.80 to £319.20. There’s also a charcoal grey and white striped version, but that remains full price.

The cosy snuggle chair is wider than a standard armchair, so it’s better suited to a larger space. Dunelm says it has a fixed back for support, with cushions filled with a mix of foam and fibre.

While it’s a bit of an investment, reviews are very positive, with the chair scoring 4.6 out of five stars. One shopper said: “This snuggle chair is the perfect reading companion. The cushion is comfortable enough to sit on for a good few hours, and the print of the whole chair is very on-trend. Well worth the money.”

Gabriella Washable Runner – save 20%

Dunelm washable rug

If, like me, you have wooden floors in your bedroom, winter mornings can mean stepping straight onto an icy surface. A rug is an easy way to add warmth, and this Dunelm runner is ideal for narrower spaces thanks to its long, slim shape.

The 60cm x 230cm runner is currently down to £28, while the longer 60cm x 600cm version is £71.20 if you have more space to play with. It’s not just limited to bedrooms either; this shape would work just as well in hallways or kitchens.

I’m particularly drawn to the natural colourway as it’s easy to move from room to room, but there are five other shades to choose from: green, blue, red, a multi-colour blend and grey.

As an added bonus, it’s machine washable on a gentle 30-degree cycle. One Dunelm shopper wrote: “My second washable rug I’ve bought from Dunelm. Bought for our kitchen and so happy with it! Really warms the space up and makes it feel homely. Beautiful pattern and feels great under our feet. Keeps our feet much warmer than the floor did. And love that it’s washable!”
