Certain products usually bought at this time of year have been recalled by the Office for Product Safety and Standards due to not being safe to use. The six items which have been recalled include two children’s toys, two types of heaters, a hair dryer and an LED lamp. One of the toys is believed to be a choking and suffocation hazard while the other is a serious fire risk.
Most items have been rejected at the border or unlisted online due to failing to meet the UK’s safety standards. Discover what products have been recalled this week below.

A toy cash register that came with plastic fruits and vegetables has been recalled after it was found to be a safety risk to children.
The item included a plastic strawberry that fits within a small parts cylinder that could be a choking risk, especially to children under 36 months who are likely to place items in their month.
This product also came supplied in a plastic bag, which children could place over their head and mouth once left unattended.
The model code for this toy is CF8544 and the barcode is X0021EQAQ.

Bike:
A children’s e-bike has also been recalled as it is believed to be a serious fire risk. The bike made by the brand Starmoto has not been assessed using relevant UK procedures and there is no technical documentation for the item.
There was also no evidence of production control, a lack of labelling, and it may be possible for the charger or battery to overheat, which could cause a fire.
The bike also only came with a two pin EU plug which are not suitable to use in the UK.
It is a blue children’s e-bike made by Srarmoto. It is a Glidex SMT805bl-EU-20 model and the plug model is FY0422941000E.

Hair dryer:
A leafless hair dryer has been classified as a serious risk of fire as the plug fuse does not have enough granular filler. A correctly assessed fuse needed so it can be used safely if a fault does occur.
The absence of this filler risk the plug overheating and/or exploding.
It is a leafless hair dryer model YM42 with attached wall plug.

Lamp:
Amazon has removed a lamp from its website as it presents a serious fire hazard. The LED lamp does not meet the fuse size requirements, insufficient creepage and clearance distances between internal circuits.
This means that there is a risk the lamp could overheat or explode. Amazon has taken the listing down, and it cannot be bought on the online marketplace.
It is a LED lamp that comes with a attracted wall plug. The Amazon Standard Identification Number for this product was B0DN64JY7M. However, it could also have the product identifiers X0026EBUQ9, FBA15KYPWLKU000005 or SKU: TL-MHSR-3D-UK-FBA.

A space air heater has been marked as a fire risk as the plug does not have enough granular filler and is now considered a counterfeit product.
A plug fuse needs granular filler to ensure it can operate safely if there is a issue, and without it the product’s plug risk overheating and/or exploding.
It is a space heater labelled as a X9 on its packaging and comes with a attached wall plug. It has the product identifier YM 45-3.

Diesel Heater:
A diesel heater have been recalled as it presents a serious risk of suffocation. The product does not come with appropriate safety information or instructions on how to use it.
Diesel heaters need to be in a sufficiently ventilated space, otherwise the user could be exposed to fatal concentrations of carbon monoxide.
It is a Vevor Diesel Heater with a orange and black casing that has a carry handle. It is a XMZ-F-D1 model.
