Popular chocolate and sweet products have been urgently recalled this week, with shoppers being issued a warning not to eat them. The Food Standards Agency have declared that these sweet treats are to be removed from shelves due to safety concerns. One product in particular has raised alarm after being linked to a potential cancer risk.
Consumers are being urged to check their kitchen cupboards carefully and pay close attention to recall notices. Authorities say anyone who has bought the affected items should stop eating them immediately and follow the recall instructions. Find out more about the affected products and what you should do below.

Forest Feast Belgian Milk Chocolate Jumbo Raisins
Kestrel Foods is recalling Forest Feast Belgian Milk Chocolate Jumbo Raisins because they may contain an undeclared allergen. The chocolate may contain peanuts and nuts, posing a health risk to people with these allergies.
Customers with peanut or nut allergies should not eat the product and should return it to the Costco store where it was purchased for a full refund.
Addressing the product recall, the company shared: “Kestrel Foods is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.
“The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice which explains to its customers the reason for the recall and how to return the product. Please see the attached notice.”

Jolly Rancher products
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued a “do not eat” warning for the popular American sweets, recalling two more products. This follows last year’s recall of several Jolly Rancher sweets made by The Hershey Company.
The FSA says some batches contain Mineral Oil Aromatic Hydrocarbons (MOAH), making them unsafe and illegal to sell in the UK. Whilst there is no immediate cause for concern for consumers who have eaten these products, MOAH can damage DNA and may increase the risk of cancer, especially if eaten in large amounts over time.
The Food Standards Agency warned: “Although the levels consumers are exposed to are likely to be low, they may present a risk to health because they contain MOAH. Consumption of the affected sweets is of toxicological concern, especially in younger age groups and where consumers eat a lot of the products or eat it regularly.
“MOAH can cause damage to DNA and has the potential to increase the risk of cancer, particularly if consumed in high quantities over a prolonged period of time. MOAH is a genotoxic carcinogen, therefore no exposure is without risk to human health.”
