Cheese on toast is a staple dish we’re all familiar with, whether you’re in need of a speedy snack, easy lunch or dinner, or something to feast on as a midnight snack. However, sometimes plain cheese just doesn’t hit the spot.
Channel 4 Served star Georgia Hughes recently shared how she takes the humble cheese on toast recipe to the next level in a TikTok video. All you need is a handful of ingredients. Georgia said: “Stop making boring cheese on toast. This is my easy, cheesy Bombay toast.”
To give plain cheese on toast extra flavour, Georgia uses a combination of spices reminiscent of the flavours of India. You’ll need some curry powder, turmeric, cumin, a sprinkling of chopped coriander, some chilli, and spring onion.
Just to make sure the toast is extra cheesy, you’ll need to crack out some cream cheese. This will help the toast retain the spicy flavours.
Georgia described the recipe as one of the “most effortless lunches” you’ll ever make. The most hard work is mixing the cheese topping together.
To make the toast extra cheesy, grate a generous amount of cheddar or mozzarella cheese on top of the toast. For a “little flourish” top the toast with some diced red onion and extra coriander.
She continued: “Just by adding a couple more steps, you get so much more flavour than a normal cheese on toast.”
The toast can be cooked under the grill for eight minutes or in the air fryer for six minutes. Georgia said: “This is my go-to effortless lunch when I want something packed with flavour, that’s also delicious. This is the best way to have cheese on toast.”
Channel 4 Served’s video has been viewed 8,668 times, receiving 307 likes and four comments. One user simply wrote: “Looks delicious.”
