Aldi is getting into the festive spirit ahead of Christmas, yet have gone down a very different route when it comes to its cheese selection. The budget supermarket is known for its tasty options with lower price tags.
However, its Christmas range comes with three controversial new additions this year. Aldi, who have been named the Christmas Retailer of the Year, are adding to its collection of Specially Selected Speciality Cheeses. As part of its biggest festive offering to date, the new cheeses are all set at £2.49.
In a move that is set to divide shoppers, Aldi’s Wensleydale has had a makeover with the addition of white chocolate and caramel. Aldi says the Wensleydale Ballycastle with White Chocolate & Caramel offers all the indulgence of a dessert and a cheese in one.
Typically, a Wensleydale cheese is creamy and crumbly with a citrus flavour. Many varieties include fruits like cranberries and apricots.
However, Aldi’s version is made with their Ballycastle Irish Cream and a dash of white chocolate and caramel. The supermarket’s new cheeses don’t stop there as its also adding Sweet and Smokey Maple Cheddar.
Another twist to classic cheese comes with the return of their Cheddar and Pineapple offering. The three Specially Selected Speciality Cheeses are available from 26th November, so you don’t have long to wait.
There are also even more cheese products on offer from the retailer as its collection includes a Specially Selected Luxury Cheese Truckle Tower priced at £13.99 for 1kg. Another new addition comes with the arrival of Specially Selected Hickory Smoked Vintage Cheddar and the Specially Selected Ultimate Cheese Selection Pack at £12.99.
Ahead of the big day, more shoppers will be able to get their hands on Aldi’s products as they have announced plans to open 16 new stores before Christmas.
The new stores will be located in various locations across the UK, including Liverpool, Kirkintilloch in Scotland, Cheadle in Staffordshire, Billericay in Essex, and Kentish Town in London.
The fourth-largest supermarket in the UK is investing £650 million across the country through its store opening and refurbishment programme in 2025, creating approximately 40 jobs at each new site.
And ahead of the Christmas rush, Aldi is getting even more prepared by employing over 4,500 staff across the UK. The new team members will be instrumental in replenishing stock, helping customers and ensuring the smooth operation of stores during one of the retail calendar’s most hectic periods.
