Aldi, Tesco, and Asda issue urgent ‘do not eat’ warnings | UK | News

Three major UK supermarket chains have been forced to take products off the shelves recently as urgent food recall warnings have been issued. Asda, Aldi, and Tesco recently issued stark “do not eat” food recall warnings to customers after a variety of their food products failed to declare certain ingredients on the packaging, which could make them unsafe for consumption for anyone with allergies or intolerances.

As per the Food Standards Agency (FSA), consumption of the affected products could pose a serious “health risk” to individuals. According to the NHS: “A food allergy is where your body reacts to certain foods. It’s often mild, but can be very serious for some people.” It’s important to note that a food allergy is different from having food intolerances, which may cause symptoms such as stomach pain and bloating, usually within a few hours of consuming the food you’re intolerant to.

As per the NHS, people with food allergies must stay vigilant and check food labels and restaurant menus before consuming food.

You must also inform friends, family, staff at places you’re dining at and the people around you about your allergy, so that prompt action can be taken if necessary. If needed, carry two adrenaline auto-injectors with you at all times.

Here are the most recent food recall notices issued by Asda, Aldi, and Tesco:

Asda recalls Mini Duck Spring Rolls with Hoisin Dip

Prominent retailer Asda has issued a recall for its Asda 10 Mini Duck Spring Rolls with Hoisin Dip due to an incorrect use-by date printed on the label, rendering it unsafe for consumption.

The 220g pack has been mislabelled with a use-by date of December 29, 2025, when the correct use-by date should read November 29, 2025, making the product unsafe to consume beyond this date.

Asda is recalling the affected product and will display point of sale notices in its retail stores stocking the item. These notices will inform customers about the reason for the recall and provide clear instructions on what steps to take if they’ve purchased the product.

The FSA recommends: “If you have bought the above product, do not consume it. Instead, please return it to your nearest store for a full refund. You do not need your receipt. For further information, please contact Asda Customer Relations on 0800 952 0101.”

Aldi withdraws Mozzarella Sticks in Blankets from shelves

Supermarket chain Aldi has issued an urgent recall for its Perfect Christmas Mozzarella Sticks in Blankets as the product contains egg, an ingredient that hasn’t been declared on the packaging. This poses a potential health hazard for customers with egg allergies or intolerances.

The affected 278g packs, carrying a use-by date of December 15, 2025, have been pulled from sale, and the supermarket giant has notified relevant allergy support organisations to alert their members and displayed point-of-sale warnings in stores.

The FSA advises: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to egg do not eat it. Instead return it to your nearest Aldi store for a full refund. For further details, please visit help.aldi.co.uk or contact customer services on 0800 042 0800.”

Tesco withdraws Aubergine Katsu Bao Buns

In another major recall, Tesco has recalled its Tesco 6 Aubergine Katsu Bao Buns after failing to declare that the product contains milk on the packaging. This means consuming the product could pose a potential health risk for anyone with a milk allergy or intolerance to milk constituents.

The recall affects products of all use-by dates up to and including December 13, 2025, and shoppers who have bought the 258g product must stay vigilant if they have purchased the 258g item.

The leading supermarket is withdrawing the product from sale and has notified appropriate allergy support groups, who will alert their members about the recall in line with usual procedures. The retailer has additionally published a recall notice for its shoppers.

The FSA states: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk do not eat it. Instead return it to any Tesco store for a full refund. For further details, please visit the contact page of Tesco’s website: tesco.com/help/contact.”

If you or someone you know is showing signs of a serious allergic reaction, call 999 immediately.
