While all supermarkets are closed for Christmas Day this year, this isn’t the case for Boxing Day. To help out eager shoppers, the supermarket chains have confirmed their opening hours for Boxing Day.

While most of the UK will be revelling in the festive cheer or heading out to browse through the Boxing Day sales, some may need to nip to the shops to fill up the fridge. A number of the major supermarkets will be open on Boxing Day, with some operating at reduced hours. It’s also worth noting that some supermarkets will remain closed on Boxing Day, opening on December 27, instead.

Aldi

Aldi stores across the UK will also be closed on Boxing Day. Aldi stores will then re-open from 8am on Saturday, December 27, remaining open as usual until 6pm on Wednesday, December 31.

Asda

Asda has confirmed that its stores will be open from 9am to 6pm on Boxing Day. From Saturday, December 27 to Tuesday, December 30, Asda stores will be operating on their normal working hours.

Tesco

Tesco Extra stores and Superstores will be open on Boxing Day from 9am to 6pm.  The majority of Express stores will be open from 9am to 7pm, and some larger Express stores will close at 6pm.

Between Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve, all stores will follow their normal opening hours, with some local variations in place.

Morrisons

All of Morrisons stores will be open from 9am to 6pm on Boxing Day

Lidl

A spokesperson for Lidl confirmed that most of its stores outside the M25 and in Wales will be shut for Boxing Day. However, they encourage customers to check their local store’s opening hours online or via the Lidl Plus app.

Sainsbury’s

On Boxing Day, Sainsbury’s supermarkets will be open from 9am to 6pm and convenience stores from 9am to 9pm. From Saturday, December 27 to Tuesday, December 30, stores will operate normal hours.

Waitrose

A spokesperson for Waitrose confirmed that stores will be closed on Boxing Day.

M&S

M&S stores will be closed on Boxing Day in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. However, some Scotland Food Halls will be open between 9am and 6pm, reported Good Housekeeping UK.

From December 27 to 30, shops will be open from 8am to 8pm, while some larger branches will be open until 10pm.
