Freeview and Sky TV rival is back and now comes with an even bigger free perk

Popular TV platforms, including Sky and Freeview, now have serious competition from Freely. This online service launched last year and offers a hassle-free way to watch live and on-demand content via a broadband connection. There are now over 40 channels available (more arrive next year) via Freely, and they are all totally free to watch, plus there are added features like being able to pause content and get recommendations.

Things recently got even better for those wanting to tune into Freely with the team at Netgem, unveiling a device called the Pleio puck.

This transforms any screen into a fully Freely-powered telly. That’s a major bonus as, until now, homes wanting to join the Freely revolution needed to buy a new television with this platform pre-installed. The Pleio Puck has clearly proven popular, with it quickly selling out on Amazon’s website. New stock was added, but that disappeared as well.

Now, this device is finally back once again, and hopefully will stay on sale throughout the busy festive period and into the  new year.

“Even for a product we had so much confidence in bringing to the market, the response to PLEIO was astronomical – and far exceeded our expectations,” Netgem explained.

“We’re now confident that anyone who wants to purchase PLEIO from Amazon will be able to do so.”

Along with confirming its return, Netgem is also offering a bigger perk for those buying one. When it first launched, owners got a three-month online subscription, which offered cloud gaming and extra content to watch. Now that the freebie, which usually costs £9.99, is available for a whole year.

“Early feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with customers reporting that they’re enjoying Freely, their favourite streaming apps and Cloud Gaming,” Sylvain Thevenot, Managing Director of Netgem UK, explained.

“We’ve already heard that Hot Wheels, Grip and Overcooked 2 have become favourite games! People truly are using PLEIO to watch, stream and play – which we hope means that the PLEIO subscription can improve their whole entertainment experience. We know that Cloud Gaming in particular is new for some, and we’ve received feedback that it might take more than three months to become familiar with – so we extended the Gaming access to twelve months.”

To make things even better, the Pleio Puck even comes with a gaming controller for an improved experience.

If you fancy checking it out, you’ll find it at Amazon. It’s priced at £99.
