This hack gave them an enticing brown crust that was rich with the savoury flavour from the bacon. If you’re a fan of crispy bacon, you’ll love this trick.
How to cook crispy bacon in the oven
I started by preheating my oven to 180C Fan and prepared a large baking tray by lining it with baking paper. This will prevent the floured bacon from sticking to the baking tray.
Next, using whichever cut of bacon you prefer, line the baking sheet with the strips of bacon side by side until the sheet is full. For this method, I used streak bacon as this gives the best results.
Once everything was laid out, I grabbed some plain flour and sifted it over the top of each strip of bacon. When it comes to the flour, you want to make sure to use a very light touch.
You want the bacon to be just dusted with the flour mixture, so that it melds with the fat and creates a light, crispy coating.
The way this works is the flour absorbs some of the extra grease, which helps the strips hold their shape.
This prevents the bacon from curling up on itself, resulting in an extra-crispy texture without sacrificing the juiciness. Plus, you avoid all of the splattering on the stovetop, so it’s a win-win.
With the bacon prepped, I cooked it in the oven for 20 minutes. The bacon came out of the oven perfectly crispy without being too hard.
Now, I’m not saying that this is the quickest way to cook bacon, but it truly is the easiest and cleanest way to get perfectly crispy bacon, every single time.
