Cleaning the air fryer, especially after it’s been left for a while, I believe, is one of the most tiresome chores. I probably use my air fryer every couple of days, whether that be for cooking chicken, salmon fillets, crispy bacon or a baked potato. As I have a dual-basket air fryer, I tend to alternate between the two when one side is dirty. As both were in a greasy state, a deep clean was much needed.
After spotting many cleaners and cleaning fans rave about how magical Fairy Skip the Soak is to cut through grease on a multitude of areas around the home, like on oven doors, oven racks, hobs and plates, I thought I’d give it a go on my air fryer. There’s nothing worse than spending a long time scrubbing air fryer baskets only to find that the burnt-on grease still remains.
After applying the cleaning liquid on the baskets, I instantly noticed the foamy spray start to turn brown, meaning that the grease had started to soften and melt.
The idea behind Fairy Skip the Soak is that it makes light work of grease and stuck-on mess.
It is a concentrated formula designed to tackle stubborn grease without the need for soaking.
To degrease my air fryer baskets, I started by removing the grill tray inserts so I could spray the bottom of the basket before spraying the trays too.
I did notice that the spray had quite a strong smell compared to washing-up liquids, and I wasn’t the biggest fan of it.
I left the spray to sit and work its magic for about five minutes, maybe just slightly less, before giving the baskets a rinse.
As I ran the trays and baskets under water, I could see the grease washing off without needing to scrub or use a sponge.
I was impressed at how well the spray worked without requiring any effort on my part, as the grease and grime had been left to fester for quite a while.
Once thoroughly rinsed, I made sure to dry the baskets before returning them to the appliance.
Given how well this worked on my air fryer, I’m now eager to try the spray on my extractor fan and oven.
