In fact, it can keep your home cosy without sending your heating bill through the roof. Speaking to the Express, the experts advised: “Keep your home’s thermostat over 14°C to prevent mould growth – a little higher in tiled rooms.”
Anything lower than this could lead to damp conditions, which can damage both your house structure and health. However, there’s no need to have the heating on continuously to fight mould, so don’t fret about heating your home when you’re not there.
Instead, the NRG experts recommend programming your boiler to switch on as needed and fine-tuning it to maintain your preferred level of warmth.

Most radiators feature side controls for temperature adjustment. When used properly, these thermostatic radiator valves – typically numbered from one to five (sometimes up to six) – can generate savings.
Specialists suggest starting with a setting of three or four.
They further noted that bleeding your radiators can assist in reducing expenses by eliminating air pockets that impede your heating system. It’s recommended to bleed radiators annually.
